The most high-profile coaching matchup this weekend will be Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher vs. Clemson’s Dabo Swinney. The most meaningful will be LSU’s Ed Orgeron against Texas’ Tom Herman.

But the most interesting? That will be at North Carolina in a meeting of two unranked teams.

The Tar Heels’ Mack Brown has more career wins (245) than any active coach. His opponent, Miami’s Manny Diaz, is still searching for his first victory after a Week 0 loss to Florida.

The intrigue goes deeper because Diaz was on Brown’s staff at Texas … until Brown fired him two games into the 2013 season.

“At times, when you win, when you get on one of those runs like Texas had for a while, it can look easy,” Diaz said. “And it’s never easy.”

Diaz’s swarming defense will try to make it even harder on his former boss in a primetime ACC Coastal Division matchup.

The Hurricanes will try to pressure North Carolina true freshman quarterback Sam Howell, the longtime Florida State commit who flipped to the Tar Heels in December. Howell was the ACC’s rookie of the week after passing for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a comeback win over South Carolina.
