Former USF coach Jim Leavitt will have an annual salary of $80,000 as an analyst at Florida State, according to his contract, which the Tampa Bay Times received Wednesday through an open-records request.

The Seminoles hired Leavitt last week to help fix a defense that has struggled through the first part of the season. FSU’s defense ranks No. 93 nationally in the SP+ advanced metrics, 80th in yards per play allowed and fourth-to-last in fourth quarter scoring.

Leavitt’s contract runs through Aug. 7. He previously served as the defensive coordinator Willie Taggart at Oregon.
