Jimbo Fisher reacts to Willie Taggart’s firing at FSU

The former Florida State coach said he wishes everyone involved well going forward.

There’s been a lot of reaction to Florida State firing coach Willie Taggart on Sunday. One voice I hadn’t heard from: His predecessor, Jimbo Fisher.

So on today’s SEC teleconference, I asked the Texas A&M coach what his reaction was to the news:

“Hate it for the program, himself and all the kids and everybody involved,” Fisher said. “Wish him nothing but the best.”

Fisher said he still has a great fondness for the Seminoles. He led the program to the 2013 national title and five consecutive New Year’s Six/BCS bowl games. He brought up all the great times and great wins he had there.

“I know they’ll do well,” Fisher said.

Fisher added that he wishes the school, players and Taggart well going forward.
