Wesley Chapel native Tre’ McKitty announced Thursday that he will be entering the transfer portal to leave Florida State.

“While I wish the results from my years at Florida State could have been what this program and fans deserve, I have nothing but love and appreciation for Florida State,” McKitty wrote.

McKitty started the first nine games of the season at tight end for the Seminoles. In 12 games, he caught 23 passes and ranked fourth on the team with 241 yards. In 2018, he started 10 games and was one of the better tight ends in the ACC with 26 catches for 256 yards and two scores. He also appeared in 11 games as a true freshman in 2017.

Before that, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound McKitty was a three-star recruit who finished his prep career at Bradenton’s IMG Academy.
