Florida State’s top-10 beatdown of LSU vaulted the Seminoles up four spots to No. 4 in the Associated Press’ top 25 poll. FSU earned three first-place votes, which trailed only Georgia (58). No. 2 Michigan had a pair of first-place votes, and FSU is also behind Alabama.
It is FSU’s highest ranking in the AP poll since starting the 2017 season third.
The last time the Seminoles were this high during the season — as opposed to the preseason — was in 2016. FSU went from fourth to third after beating No. 11 Mississippi in that year’s season opener in Orlando, also with a stunning second-half performance. FSU went as high as second before a 63-20 loss at a Louisville team led by eventual Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.
Utah rose two spots to 12th after its convincing two-score win over the Gators. Colorado, coached by FSU and NFL legend Deion Sanders, entered the rankings at No. 22 thanks to a road win at TCU.
The Seminoles also moved up three spots to fifth in the coaches’ poll. They’re behind Georgia, Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State. Utah rose two spots in those rankings after beating Florida.
Three Seminoles earned ACC player of the week honors: quarterback Jordan Travis, receiver Keon Coleman and offensive lineman Bless Harris.
