Former Bulls 6-foot-10 C Augustus "Gus" Gilchrist, recently reported missing in Maryland, has been located and reunited with family members.
Christina Cotterman, a spokesperson with the Prince George's County Police Department, provided the update Monday morning. No additional details immediately were available.
The department recently had issued a missing-persons alert for Gilchrist, 28, who resides in Clinton, Md. He had not been seen by friends or relatives since the morning of June 27.
A Maryland transfer, Gilchrist made 78 starts in four seasons for USF, averaging 11.4 points and 5.3 rebounds. He was the leading scorer (9.5 ppg) on the Bulls' NCAA Tournament team in '12, when he started 32 of 33 games, and ranks 11th on the program's career scoring list (1,209).
He received the team's Chris Howard Perseverance Award following that improbable season and made the Sacramento Kings' summer-league roster a couple of months later, but was cut.
Last summer, he played for the Tampa Bulls — composed of former USF players — in The Basketball Tournament; a 64-team, single-elimination event with a $2 million winner-take-all prize. USF reached the "Super 16" round.
