Bulls senior S Jaymon Thomas has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, becoming the third USF player to make a national watch list this preseason.

He joins TE Mitch Wilcox (Mackey Award) and OT Marcus Norman (Outland Trophy).

The Wuerffel Trophy annually recognizes a college football player who combines community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Thomas, who carries a 3.48 GPA as a health sciences major, made the 2017-18 American Athletic Conference All-Academic team. He has 106 tackles, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles in his career, and made his first career interception against Texas Tech in the Birmingham Bowl last December.

An Immokalee native, he has volunteered at many local organizations (Boys and Girls Club of Tampa, Tampa Parks and Recreation KABOOM! Playground build) and has spoken at various schools.

Other state players on the list: Florida OL Fred Johnson, FAU RB Gerald Hearns, FSU C Alec Eberle, Miami DL Demetrius Jackson

USF begins preseason camp Aug. 3.
