ST. PETERSBURG — One person was found dead and another escaped serious injury from a Wednesday afternoon house fire, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

Firefighters were called to a home on the 5900 block of 13th Street N at an undisclosed time. They found the structure on fire, the flames contained within one room inside the single-story home, the agency said.

There were two people inside the home when firefighters entered. One was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene, while the other was found dead at the scene. The agency did not release the names of either person.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other details were released.
