St. Petersburg adopts sustainability plan

Published April 30, 2019

ST. PETERSBURG — The city has adopted its first Integrated Sustainability Action Plan. The plan, reviewed and adopted by the City Council, will build on current programs and provide guidance for new initiatives such as greening the city's fleet.

The city says community and business outreach will continue to develop the steps and work needed to accomplish the initiatives.

The next steps include leveraging the Bloomberg American Cities Climate Challenge accelerator program for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the building and transportation sectors. Other actions include the development of environmental and green infrastructure and addressing climate change and resiliency on a regional level as part of the recently formed Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition.
