TAMPA — Tampa's Stageworks Theatre and Jobsite Theater have announced selections for their 2019-20 seasons, and season tickets are now available.
Jobsite Theater, which holds performances in the intimate Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, took the venue as inspiration for the season's theme. Taken from a line from Shakespeare's As You Like It, "A Great Reckoning in a Little Room" is also a nod to the company's commitment to producing plays from the Bard. Indeed, this season will include the frisky fairy romp A Midsummer Night's Dream. But the season also reflects new and rising voices in American theater including Meteor Shower by Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin).
"Connections" is the theme of Stageworks' season, which includes the hyperlocal Anna in the Tropics, set in Ybor City. The musical Ordinary Days examines the small connections that can be made in New York City.
