BRANDON — A sign posted on the front door says it all: “The Mill, we are moving to 2500 W Azeele St. in Tampa.” After signing a lease in January of 2017 and opening for business in August 2017, The Mill restaurant has shuttered its doors at the short-lived Brandon location in favor of expanding to the former Ceviche site in Hyde Park.
The restaurant, known for serving a wide array of tapas, moved into the Azeele Street location in 2012, when the original Ceviche was relocated there from South Howard Avenue.
The Mill, which started in St. Petersburg in 2015, was located at 109 W Bloomingdale Ave., and was partially hidden by the BMO Harris Bank on the corner of Bloomingdale and John Moore Road. Known as a quirky, rustic, old Florida-focused restaurant, it featured high-end cocktails, fine dining and a 20-foot mural of recycled gears and pulleys.
The Mill menu features an eclectic variety of options that apparently never took off in the Brandon market, including The Breakfast Club Cheese and Charcuterie (cheeses, duck bacon, lamb bacon, gator bacon, pickled eggs and more for $25) and Espresso Seared Tuna (smoked apple red Himalayan rice, eggplant mole, long beans and labneh for $31).
The restaurant may find Tampa’s SoHo District to be more inviting.
