RACES: GOING AFOWL

Happy anniversary, Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot. Start off your Thanksgiving with a buffet of races in this, the 40th year of the Times Turkey Trot. The menu includes the 1-mile Gobbler, the Abe’s Drumstick 4K, Wingding 5K and the 10K Turkey Trot. The turducken of all these races? The Clearwater Challenge, with runners doing the 5K, 1 Mile and 10K all in one day. New this year, the 4K is meant for strollers and walkers. After all, holidays are for everyone. 7 a.m. Thursday. All races begin at Keene Road just south of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. $15-$50. (727) 442-5838.

Coffee Pot Turkey Trot: A family-oriented timed 5K run-walk to benefit the school. 7:45-9 a.m. Thursday. North Shore Elementary School, 200 35th Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. $25. (727) 893-2181.

Goody Goody Turkey Gobble: A stroller- and dog-friendly 8K, 5K or 1-mile out-and-back race with a postrace breakfast. Benefits LiveStrong at YMCA. 6:30-8 a.m. Thursday. Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $15-$40. (813) 224-9622.

NFL: The TV tradition

Besides mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce, nothing goes better with turkey than pro football on TV. This year includes the traditional games in Detroit and Dallas. The lineup: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions, 12:30 p.m., CBS; Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys, 4:30 p.m., Fox; and Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints, 8:20 p.m., NBC. On Sunday, there are more turkeys as our 3-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the San Francisco 49ers. 1 p.m. Sunday. Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Ticket prices vary. (813) 350-6500.

BOLTS RALLY: BYE, ANDREI

How will the Tampa Bay Lightning respond now that star goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is out for a while with a broken foot? We’ll get a good idea as Tampa Bay begins a homestand with games Friday (vs. Chicago Blackhawks: 7:30 p.m.), Sunday (vs. New Jersey Devils: 7 p.m.) and Tuesday (vs. Anaheim Ducks: 7:30 p.m.). Ticket prices vary by game. Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. (813) 301-6600.
