The Life Aquatic, the music bilingual Bowie

This sneaked up on me like a jaguar shark. On Thursday night at Ybor City's Crowbar, an unusual tribute will be paid to Wes Anderson's 2004 oddity The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou starring Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Anjelica Huston.

Not by just showing the movie. That would be too predictable, so unlike Anderson and his movies.

Instead, the evening will also focus upon the movie's musical soundtrack, specifically the David Bowie covers performed in Portuguese by Brazilian musician Seu Jorge.

After the screening, local musician Acho Brother (aka Hector Mayoral) will step into Jorge's place, performing such Bowie hits as Space Oddity, Ziggy Stardust, Starman and Life on Mars. Strange choices for a movie largely set underwater but that's Anderson.

Admission is $6, doors open at 7:30, the movie starts at 8 and Brother's performance begins at 10. Crowbar is located at 1812 N. 17th St.
