The ultimate blues cover song of the '80s was done by ... Steve Miller?!?

We are smack dab in the middle of Kids Week on Lost and Found and after yesterday's gloomy song about child abuse, let's continue the blues with Steve Miller and God Bless The Child.

Seven years ago today, guitar legend Les Paul died at the age of 94 and today's video God Bless The Child starts off with an introduction by then 74-year-old Les Paul. Things you might learn today is that Steve Miller's dad, George, was the best man at Paul's 1949 marriage to Mary Ford and that Paul is Miller's godfather and gave him his first guitar lesson at age five. In 1988, Miller released his only solo album Born 2 B Blue that reinterpreted jazz standards and featured the Billie Holiday classic God Bless The Child.

God Bless the Child was first recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939 and has been covered countless times including covers by Diana Ross who played Holiday in 1972 movie Lady Sings The Blues. Miller continues to tour and play tributes to Les Paul, who is the only person to be both in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the National Inventors Hall Of Fame.
