'The View' audience apparently doesn't like Jenny McCarthy

It's not a huge loss in viewers, but it's still a loss.

If you thought Elisabeth Hasselbeck was shrill and annoying on The View, well, they managed to replace her with someone even worse. Apparently ABC has done their homework and found that viewers find Jenny McCarthy even worse. Barbara Walters retired just in time.

"ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny's work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth," a source told RadarOnline. "The data has revealed that she is far more off-putting than Elisabeth." You mean stay-at-home moms don't want to listen to a former Playboy Playmate who dubiously claims her son was autistic and says childhood vaccines are evil? Who knew?

The source adds that Walters "isn't looking for a replacement for Jenny yet, she is obsessed with ratings and the longevity of the show, so Jenny needs to turn it around or she will be gone." The show has dropped from 3.239 million viewers to 3.023 million since McCarthy started Sept. 9, TheWrap.com says, but new CBS competitor The Talk has been gaining steadily since premiering on the same day.

The answer to this is clear: Hasselbeck will have to come back from Fox & Friends to fight McCarthy in the Thunderdome. Imagine the ratings for that episode.
