Sacred Art Tour of the Tibetan Monks: Eight Dalai Lama-sanctioned monks from India are creating a sand mandala of the Green Tara, a female representation of the Buddha of Compassion. During opening ceremonies, the monks will chant, play long Tibetan horns and consecrate the site of the sand mandala. The mandala will be drawn out after the ceremony. 10:15 a.m. Opening day ends with tai chi demonstration and mini-participatory class. 5 p.m. Florida CraftArt Galleries, 501 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Balcony-to-Backstage Tours: This guided tour of Tampa Theatre, built in 1926, includes a demonstration of the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ and stories of the old movie house's secrets, art and architecture.
