Some people buy clothes to show them off in public. Others, like Leslie Geyer, prefer to shop for items that will only be worn in private. For women like her with a penchant for intimate wear — and men who like to gift the women in their lives — Geyer opened the Pink Petticoat, a luxury lingerie shop in Tampa.

The boutique specializes "not in sexy things but beautiful things," as Geyer puts it. The lace, silk and delicate fabrics in the pieces curated by Geyer herself are supposed to empower customers' sensuality, and since every customer is different, the options to achieve that goal are ample.

From silk wedding panties with "Blushing Bride" or "Something Blue" strategically embroidered into them ($32) to a barely there L'Agent Provocateur lace chemise ($176) and casual but upscale and flattering leggings and camis for lounging around the house ($130 for the set), there's a style for every type of woman and every occasion.

A girls' vacation may call for a skimpy west coast-style bikini ($50 to $80 for separates) while a special date night could use a high-waisted bottom and demi cup top set (prices vary). Either way, customers are welcome to come in, relax and try everything on with some help from the store staff. If they want to bring in their friends, the store also offers private parties every day of the week, allowing up to 10 people to come in after hours and try things on while sipping champagne, eating desserts and enjoying some special discounts. Lately, these lingerie parties have become a popular first stop for Tampa bachelorette parties.

While the boutique is currently in the heart of Hyde Park Village, it is planned to expand into a bigger space on Dale Mabry Highway in October. Through the holiday season, both locations will remain open with different inventories. Starting in 2015, the Pink Petticoat will move permanently.`
