Things to do Labor Day weekend: Parties, fireworks, festivals in Tampa Bay

Plenty of sun and fun to be found across the Bay Area for Labor Day. The following is a list of a few events to keep you active over the holiday weekend:

Summer of Rum Festival

Island-inspired celebration of rum moves to Curtis Hixon Park, allowing for more "rum zones" and shacks to serve up more than 40 rums from around the world. Includes live entertainment by headliner Baha Men (Who Let the Dogs Out?), fireworks and food trucks. $15 (general); $80 (VIP). Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa. (813) 786-7480. Clearwater Threshers

It's Fan Appreciation Night and a salute to Labor Day. Stick around after the game for the Thresher's biggest fireworks and laser light display of the season. $6-$10. Spectrum Field, 601 N Old Coachman Road, Clearwater. (727) 467-4457. 6:15 p.m. Friday.

Gecko Fest

This whimsical "Geckostock" themed family street festival gives a nod to Woodstock to celebrate Labor Day weekend and the end of summer. Street party includes live music on two stages, street performers, balloon art, costume contest, a street dance and vendors. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Free. Shephard's Labor Day Weekend

Spend the weekend partying by the beach with headlining DJs including Jersey Shore's Pauly D, DJ Dani, Ayesik, Scotty Boy, Kid U Not and Dean Manson. Night Kickoff Party DJ Brandon James will open for DJ Lodato Friday at 9 p.m. Shephard's Beach Resort, 619 S Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach. $25. (727) 442-5107. shephards.com. St. Pete Crab and Music Festival

Queen B of 95.7 the Beat hosts this festival with crabs and crab dishes, local seafood, children's activities, big screen viewing of the FSU/Alabama game and live entertainment by National acts including Rome, Tonny Terry and comedian Tiny. $20. Celebrate Oldsmar

Bring blankets and chairs for two nights of a Labor Day salute and family fun with carnival rides, games, live music by Soul Circus Cowboys (Friday) and Stormbringer (Saturday) and fireworks (9:30 p.m. Saturday). Drag Queen Labor Day Party

DJ's Charles Machado and Steve Vaughn spin the music for this party with 2 for 1 drinks until 9 p.m., $3 Bacardi drinks from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. and a drag show featuring Tiffany Arieagus, Joey Brooks, Felicity Lane and Kori Stevens. Sexy Labor Day Party

License-Free Saltwater Fishing Day

Recreational fishermen celebrate Labor Day with rod and reel in hand at no cost. Held a few times a year, this free fishing day provides an opportunity to introduce everyone to fishing. License requirement waived for all recreational anglers. All other rules regarding season, bag and size limits apply. The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license or permit including snook and spiny lobster. Free. Electric Ocean

It's the final performances for SeaWorld's glowing late night party featuring DJ dancing with illuminated sea creatures, fireworks, Sea Lion Tonight and Shamu's Celebration: Light Up the Night. Kids Golf Free

It's the official end of summer and Friday is the final day kids ages 15 and younger can join a paying adult for one free round of golf. Labor Day Weekend at the Gardens
