Top sailors prepare for Clearwater competition

49er FX sailors Helena Scutt (front) and Paris Henken, the American number one 49er FX sailors get in some practice for the North American Championships being held off Clearwater Beach February 5th through the 8th. - The City of Clearwater is hosting a major Olympic level sailing competition this week (February 5-8, 2015) in the form of the 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17 North American Championships, hosted by the Clearwater Community Sailing Center. The event will serve as a prelude to next year’s World Championships (February 7-14, 2016), which will be at the same venue. The three types of boats sailing at the event will be the fastest classes selected for use at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Clearwater is hosting the Olympic-level sailing competition this week in the form of the 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17 North American Championships, hosted by the Clearwater Community Sailing Center. The event will serve as a prelude to next year's World Championships at the same venue.
