Use lemon juice and salt to clean wooden cutting boards: You've got to be careful when cleaning wooden cutting boards. Don't throw them in the dishwasher, for one. And try to avoid heavy usage of soaps or other non-natural cleaning agents. The best way to keep cutting boards looking and smelling fresh is to use common kitchen products on them. Once or twice a month, apply a thin layer of lemon or lime juice (vinegar works, too) and coarse salt to the board. Let sit for a few minutes, then scrub it off. The acidity of the lemon or lime and the abrasiveness of the salt will help dig in to keep those cutting boards clean — and smelling fresh.
