SAY CHEESE: BURGER DAY
Tuesday is National Cheeseburger Day. I wish I knew what to get you. Oh, wait. I have an idea. Loads of places around Tampa Bay will be celebrating with reduced prices on their burgers avec fromage. One in particular is BurgerFi, which for the day is offering $1 cheeseburgers for in-store purchases only (not delivery or online purchases) with the regular-priced purchase of one (two all-natural Angus beef patties, double American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and BurgerFi Sauce and that cool branding iron on the bun). burgerfi.com.
Sweetness! The annual New Port Richey sweet potato harvest is monster. By Labor Day, Grand Gardens and other participating gardens and micro farms in the New Port Richey FarmNet had yielded more than 300 pounds of nubby brown tubers, all of them grown using organic principles and free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Want in on them?
The harvests will be part of the third annual Sweet Potato Round Up, recently rescheduled for Oct. 6 at the West Pasco Habitat for Humanity, 4131 Madison St., New Port Richey, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. These local spuds will be available to all in the community for $3 for 1 pound, $5 for 2 pounds, $10 for 5 pounds. All proceeds remain in the community and support the work of Friendship Farms and New Port Richey FarmNet.
