Taste test: Texas toast

Published Aug. 10, 2018

Texas may have invented extra thick and buttery toast, but plenty of us enjoy the slathered slices with our own barbecues or Italian night dinners. Our judges like the addition of cheese to the toast, browned in the oven with a few herbs dotting the top. This week, we sampled six brands of cheesy Texas toast found in local grocery store freezers. All were baked in the oven according to package directions. While the judges loved the options they tried, their scores may seem a bit underwhelming because they didn't like the toasts as much as some of the other products we have tasted. In any case, they all acknowledged these offerings will be on their summer shopping lists.
