Taste test: grocery store meal kits

Published March 13, 2018

This week, our panel tasted a variety of "meal kits" from local grocery stores. These are prepared meals from various stores that require only heating or minor food preparation. Mail delivery meal kits are all the rage right now, so it makes sense that grocery stores are getting in the game. While we were unable to find the exact same meals at different stores, we tried to stick to chicken or fish meals. Most of the meal kits were found in the meat or refrigerated sections of the store. But Walmart sells frozen "Meal Kits" that can go directly from the freezer to the oven. Overall, judges said they definitely would buy some of these meals for a quick dinner rather than a fast-food option.
