'Spring Breakers' DVD release: Time to party all over again

You can be just as irresponsible and sleazy as the Spring Breakers characters played by Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and James Franco. But please, no drinking and driving or armed robberies!

Pre-party

Get fired up for Tuesday's DVD release on Saturday, when Spring Breakers' own Gucci Mane performs at Onyx in St. Petersburg. The party starts at 10 p.m., but the megaselling rapper will take the stage later. If you're brave enough to check it out, let out a guttural, "Gucci, brrrr!" — that's his catchphrase. Onyx is located at the former Scene Premium Nightclub, 211 Third St. S. Tickets are $40 and up. For info, see facebook.com/onyx.premium.

Wardrobe

Everyone must wear neon. Lots of pink, orange and yellow for sure, but anything that burns a hole in your retina is acceptable. Where does one find such colors? Two words: Clearwater Beach. Never underestimate a tourist shop's stock of hot-pink tanks. If you want to get really wild, paint all 10 of your fingernails a different color. Neon purple and yellow are complementary colors for a reason.

If want to get more costumey, you can't beat James Franco's rapper/drug dealer character Alien: Wear a white tank top under an open Hawaiian shirt with a couple of fake gold necklaces, then top it off with fake gold teeth and cornrows. Also required: At some point during the night, you must make everyone look at all of your shit.

Decor

Again, neon. Get your hands on some Day-Glo paint and go crazy. For that classic gangsta effect, invest in some fake dollar bills so you can make it rain. Then stack 'em back up and do it again. It never gets old.

Music

The Spring Breakers soundtrack is a great start, natch, but you'll need to supplement. More Gucci Mane, more 2 Chainz, more Waka Flocka Flame. Hardcore fans should also have local rapper Dangeruss' single My Fork on the playlist, as he was the basis for Franco's character. Also, this is a perfect opportunity to bring Britney back, bitch. Who among us hasn't sung ... Baby One More Time drunkenly outside of a strip mall with our friends, clad only in bikinis? Pop Spears' greatest hits into the karaoke machine and belt it out. If you're feeling particularly brave, sit down at the piano and do a mournful version of Everytime.

Party games

Activities should circle around one thing: drinking. Hit up the nearest Wings for a beer bong and make sure that you have plenty of red Solo cups on hand. Extra points if you have a two-story house for that beer bong.

Food/drinks

The Spring Breakers girls robbed a Chicken Shack with some water guns to fund their spring break trip to Florida, so this one's easy: Pick up a couple buckets of chicken for your hungry guests, who are inevitably jonesing for something fried after drinking all night. Also: Neon drinks! Try these super-easy recipes for cocktails that pop.
