It may seem far too early for this, but Universal Orlando has revealed the dates for its 25th annual Halloween Horror Nights, and it will expand the hugely popular scare fest to a record 30 nights starting earlier than usual, on Sept. 18.

It's not a surprise to see the Orlando theme park expand the event during the slow fall travel months — especially after Halloween Horror Nights was cited by parent company Comcast in its recent earnings report as one reason the company's theme parks division saw a 30 percent increase in sales in the last quarter of 2014, driven by attendance and spending per person.

It helps that Universal has been able to use well-known brands like AMC's The Walking Dead and iconic movies like Halloween and create scare zones to generate more interest.

Universal Orlando Resort has started selling vacation packages that include tickets to the annual Halloween event, which will run weekends Sept. 18-Nov. 1.

Three-night vacation packages that include two days in the Universal Orlando theme parks and one night's admission to Halloween Horror Nights are now on sale starting at $165 per night at halloweenhorrornights.com.
