MAKE THE CONNECTION: ROUND SQUARE

"Round Square," the new exhibition opening at Florida CraftArt on Friday, is subtitled "Conversations at Large," indicative of guest curator Katherine Gibson's intention to stoke conversations from visitors. The exhibit uses the work of four Florida artists: Edgar Sanchez Cumbas, Kendra Frorup, Babette Herschberger and Charles Parkhill to highlight the conscious and subconscious relationships between shape, color, scale and design across mediums. The show's installation aims to engage visitors by both placing simple shapes and colors together and by displaying work in unexpected ways. Tickled Pink, an interactive, 15-foot merry-go-round structure piece by Tampa-based artist Frorup, is operated by hand-crank and really aims to involve visitors. You can give it a spin at the opening reception Friday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 501 Central Ave. (727) 821-7391. floridacraftart.org.
