1Young Eagles Flight Rally: Kids ages 8 to 17 can get a free flight with volunteer pilots to explore the world of aviation. Get there early to get in line for a 15-minute flight to learn how airplanes work and how safety comes first. 2Emerald City Comics Fest: Meet comic writers and artists like DC Comics’ Chuck Dixon (co-creator of the Batman nemesis Bane) and local creators, plus cosplayers, a gaming room and food and merchandise vendors. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Forbes Recreation Center, 6401 94th Ave. N, Pinellas Park. Free. (727) 541-0882.

3Pinellas Pie Festival: This sweet festival returns for its fourth year in Largo Central Park with an array of pies, but also seasonal beers from local breweries inspired by pie flavors and other foods for sale. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for music from Uncle John’s Band, a Grateful Dead tribute band. There will be a pie-eating contest, of course, plus an amateur pie bakeoff contest, kids zone ($7 to play all day), a dog cooling station and a vendors village. Beer sales benefit Humane Society of Pinellas. Free parking and entry. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive.

4Heights Fall Festival: Bring nonperishable food items to Tampa’s trendy Armature Works for a seasonal festival with a pumpkin patch, children’s activities, games, Oktoberfest beer samples, live music, vendors, face painting and a food drive. No cover. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. 1910 N Ola Ave., Tampa.

5Jump at the Sun: Catch a screening of the documentary Jump at the Sun based on Florida author Zora Neale Hurston at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum.
