LAUGH OUT LOUD: The Comedy Get Down Tour

The blockbuster Comedy Get Down Tour returns with George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Eddie Griffin for a two-hour show, with 25-minute sets from Lopez and Griffin and 30-minute sets from Hughley and Cedric the Entertainer. Expect a high-energy, expletive-laden and button-pushing night, with Lopez holding down master of ceremonies duty between acts. The MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre rarely hosts comedy shows like this. But if you like all four comics and don’t care about aesthetics or atmosphere? One of NPR’s most popular radio shows and podcasts, Science Friday, brings a live show with correspondent Ira Flatow to Tampa Theatre on Saturday. The 90-minute science-based show includes live music, props, video screenings and science demonstrations. Flatow, who formerly hosted the PBS series Newton’s Apple and Big Ideas has become a bit of a pop culture icon for those who follow science journalism. CLOWN AROUND: Super American Circus

Named “America’s Best Clown” by Time, the Ringling comedic daredevil Bello Nock, best known for his foot-high spiked hair, is in town with his new show. Billed as a modern one-ring circus, the Super American Circus will showcase edgier acts including the Wheel of Destiny, the Flying Royals, the Motorcycle Globe of Death and a Human Cannonball Shot. It’s coming to the Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa for six shows. Bello has walked a high wire over Lincoln Center in New York City, set a Guinness record for longest unsupported tightrope walk between two ships at sea and performed on a trapeze under a helicopter hovering over the Statue of Liberty.
