Add another name to the list of prominent Florida graduation speakers with presidential flavor.
Martha J. Kanter, who President Barack Obama named under secretary for the Department of Education in 2009, will deliver the keynote speech at Hillsborough Community College's commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. May 3 at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
Kanter is in charge of overseeing Obama's higher education goals, college policies and programs, federal student aid and five different White House initiatives. She has degrees from the University of San Francisco, Harvard University and Brandeis University. And, of course, she tweets. Kanter has championed the importance of community colleges in the larger education picture.
In case you missed it, the University of Central Florida in Orlando said Wednesday former President Bill Clinton will speak at one of its commencement ceremonies.
