The New York Post was quick to imply that Australian model Jessica Hart was getting dropped by Victoria's Secret because she said something about Taylor Swift that sounded a lot like an insult, but there's one problem: It doesn't seem like they're dropping Hart at all. But hey, let's speculate anyway!
Fashion site WWD.com asked Hart at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show afterparty on Nov. 13 if she thought Swift, who sang at the show, could be a model, and Hart said not at all. Actually what she said was:
"I think, you know what, God bless her heart. I think she's great. But I don't know, to me, she didn't fit. I don't know if I should say that. I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we've been working for 14, 15 years; what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself. I think it comes with age. It's definitely the benchmark of all jobs."
That got lots of Taylor fans upset, surely, so she backpedaled and told Us Weekly less than a week later, "I adore Taylor Swift and I was so excited to be with her at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show … She is a true rock star and she absolutely killed it the other night."
Page Six then said last week Hart, who is apparently not cool enough to be a full-fledged Angel (that's reserved for women like Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel) but does work for the company's VS Pink line, drew the ire of execs. They supposedly decided they won't put her in any catalogs or walk in next year's show. Because we're sure they decide those things mere days after the last one, right?
For the truth, the New York Daily News went right to the underwear giant's mouth.
"There is no truth to the rumors that Jessica Hart has been fired or that she will no longer work with the brand," president and chief marketing officer of Victoria's Secret Ed Razek told the tabloid. "As you will see, she was a great part of our show and we look forward to continuing to work with her. As previously reported, we at Victoria's Secret and all those involved, including Jessica Hart, were thrilled to have Taylor be a part of the show. We look forward to sharing her performances next week during the television special."
As for future appearances, she'll be at a Dec. 10 screening and will be shooting catalog photos in January. So, she's not getting fired then?
