Strong to severe storms could move through Tampa Bay region on Wednesday as a cold front descends on the region, forecasters say.
Thunderstorms could develop over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico in the morning and move onshore in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. There is a slight chance the storms could be severe, with damaging wind gusts and maybe a tornado or two in coastal areas before diminishing, forecasters said.
Skies will clear on Thursday, with plenty of sunshine forecast through Saturday. The front will usher in cooler weather, too, with highs on Thursday and Friday in the mid 60s and lows in the 40s, according to Spectrum Bay News 9 meteorologists. Rain chances return Sunday and Monday.
