Tampa Bay to see stormy weather Saturday

The Tampa Bay area can expect to see stormy skies and warmer temperatures this Saturday.

Tampa’s high today is 81 degrees Fahrenheit with a low of 68 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers during the day and a 50 percent chance of showers at night. The city will be partly sunny, with a “South southwest wind” ranging from seven to 13 miles per hour and gusts up to 23 miles per hour.

St. Petersburg’s forecasted temperatures range from 78 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service. The city also has a 40 percent chance of showers during the day with a 50 percent chance of showers at night. Heavy rains soaked St. Petersburg by mid-morning. The city will be breezy with a southwest wind ranging from nine to 16 miles per hour, including gusts up to 22 miles per hour.

Clearwater can expect to see temperatures ranging for 76 degrees to 66 degrees Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. It’s forecasted to have a 50 percent chance of showers during the day and a 40 percent chance of showers at night. The city will experience a south wind between 11 and 16 miles per hour in the morning and 18 to 23 miles per hour in the afternoon.

All three cities are projected to see rainfall between a tenth of an inch and a quarter of an inch Saturday, with more rain possible during thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Hillsborough and Pasco counties until 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The warning covers Pebble Creek, Meadow Pointe, Thonotosassa, Lettuce Lake Park, New Tampa and Wesley Chapel.
