Thursday is shaping up to be about as ideal of a day to walk the midway and chow down on a corn dog — or the other gut-busting options — available at today's opening of the Florida State Fair.
High pressure remains in control over the Tampa Bay area, generating sunny skies and above-average temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Folks are waking up to temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s, with some patchy fog in some areas. Highs will climb to about 10 degrees above normal, to around 80 under clear blue skies and with gentle winds blowing from the south-southeast, forecasters said.
Overnight lows will dip to near 60.
Clouds will build starting Friday and rain chances will increase slightly this weekend as a cold front drifts into the region. Highs on Saturday will remain in the mid 70s and not get much warmer on Sunday.
