With high pressure in control over Tampa Bay, mostly sunny skies will return — along with that familiar summertime heat.

Wakeup temperatures on Thursday are starting off in the low to mid 70s, and highs will approach 90 under partly cloudy skies and gentle winds from the east, with just a small chance of a stray afternoon shower mainly to the south of Tampa Bay, according to the National Weather Service.

Lows will dip to around 70.

The warming trend continues through the weekend and into next week, with slight-above average highs of 91 forecast this weekend. Conditions will get even more sweltering by midweek, with forecasters calling for highs in the mid-90s under mostly sunny skies and with minimal rain chances.
