Sunshine and heat will hold strong Tuesday throughout the Tampa Bay, according to the National Weather Service.
Brief morning fog should give way to a wealth of sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to reach 92 degrees, forecasters said, well above the normal of 85 degrees, with things being slightly cooler along the coast. Overnight lows should drop to the low 70s, still above the 67-degree normal.
There's only about a 20 percent chance of rain going into the afternoon. A few showers are straggling behind an exiting cold front, but remain mostly to the east of the region. Behind the front, high pressure is building over Florida, bringing with it drier air and plenty of that heat. A few lingering showers could spring up through the evening, forecasters said.
According to the Weather Service, the next few days should be similar, with lower chances of rain and temperatures above normal. A building afternoon sea breeze keeps a small chance of rain in the mix, with a bit more activity expected Thursday and Friday.
