Tampa Bay's run of summer-like weather will continue on Friday and into the weekend, setting the stage for a pleasant — albeit breezy — Mother's Day on Sunday.
Any lingering rain from Thursday night is tailing off, leaving partly cloudy skies and lows starting off in the mid 70s. But sticky conditions prevail thanks to high humidity and winds from the south, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs will again approach 90 under partly cloudy skies, with rain chances building by mid-afternoon from the east and moving toward the coast. They will with a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms by early evening and tailing off into the overnight, forecasters said.
Expect similar conditions on Saturday, keeping your Mother's Day brunch plans safe from any wet conditions but still unseasonably warm with highs near 90 and brisk winds from the southwest.
The next best chance of extended rain comes on Monday with the arrival of a cold front, forecasters said. Things should clear by Tuesday, but the front will bring more temperate conditions, with highs staying in the mid 80s through midweek.
