Tampa Bay Weather

Get ready for another cold front this weekend in Tampa Bay, with no tornadoes this time

Some areas of dense, but patchy fog Friday morning will lead to a sunny, unseasonably warm day throughout the Tampa Bay area ahead of a brief weekend cold front.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say warm and humid conditions will hold throughout Friday, with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 70s. There won’t be much chance for rain, forecasters say, but the best chances will be east of Interstate 75 through the afternoon and early evening.

Another cold front will begin its push through the area Saturday, forecasters said, pushing a band of moisture ahead of it as is typical with these weather patterns. Unlike last week’s cold front that saw massive storms and brought tornadoes through the area, this week should be calm. Forecasters say Saturday rain chances will stay around 20 percent with the front bringing only some isolated showers and storms.

Daytime highs will dip only slightly with the cold front. Saturday and Sunday shouldn’t get past the low 80s. The front will really be felt in the overnight lows. Saturday will be around 72, while Sunday will dip all the way to 63.

Chance for rain will get even lower Sunday, only getting to about 10 percent.

The weather should make for a pleasant weekend outside with plenty to do. There’s the ever-popular Ribfest in downtown St. Petersburg, a chowder challenge on St. Pete Beach (a local foodie favorite) and a seafood festival on the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs, and more.

For those less food focused, there’s also the Cigar City Concours d’Elegance in Odessa, a high-class car show featuring a special focus on hot rods and customs from 1932-1955.

Another, slightly more intense cold front is expected to come through next week, bringing increased moisture and even lower temperatures. Keep an eye on the daily tampabay.com forecast for the latest on that front.
