Bobcat Goldthwait was on the prowl again, and Jay Leno was not amused. One week after Goldthwait spray painted the set of the Arsenio Hall Show, the comedian set fire to his chair on the set of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. "It's really no big thing," a perturbed Leno told KNBC News, "except when you have fire and 550 people in the audience and a set that's made out of paper and balsa wood .... " Goldthwait, appearing on Friday's show, sprayed his chair with lighter fluid and set it on fire shortly after coming onstage. Leno doused the flames with liquid from his coffee mug. So did Lauren Hutton, another guest who was sitting in the next chair. Moments later, Goldthwait stood up and headed off the set with lighter in hand, but was halted by a sudden _ and unplanned _ fall. Leno said later that he suspected Goldthwait might have a stunt up his sleeve, but didn't expect something so dangerous. After the credits rolled, he gave Goldthwait a stiff upbraiding.
