The life and death of musician Frank Zappa will be the subject of a feature-length documentary by Academy Award-winning documentarymakers Freida Lee Mock and Terry Sanders. Now in preproduction, Zappa: The Man and His Music will begin shooting early next year with the full cooperation of the Zappa family. The film, which Mock will direct and Sanders will produce, will chronicle the life of the prolific and radically eclectic composer through interviews, rare archival footage and unreleased recordings. Sanders and Mock received a 1995 Academy Award for Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, a film that documented the artist who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. They also received a 1996 Oscar nomination for their short documentary Never Give Up: The 20th Century Odyssey of Herbert Zipper.
