One fifth-grader accused of forming a witches club has been expelled from Pensacola Christian Academy, and 10 others have been suspended. The expelled girl organized the club and encouraged others to study witchery and act like witches, an academy spokesman said. One parent called the school's reaction "a witch hunt." "My daughter is 10 years old and they interrogated her and got her so scared that she won't talk or eat," said Randy Long, whose daughter, Cicily, was suspended for one day. The girls were passing notes in a make-believe code they called a witch code, said Long, who may remove his daughter from the school. "This was more than girls just being silly," said Joel Mullenix, vice president for public affairs at the academy. "We're a Christian school, and we believe we have one of the cleanest schools anywhere. We're not going to sacrifice that." He denied the girls were badgered or intimidated when sent to administrators' offices after parents told school officials about the club.
