If NBC thought Titanic would be the ultimate weapon to sink its rivals in the November ratings sweeps, it was wrong. The broadcast premiere of one of the most popular movies of all time didn't even crack Nielsen Media Research's list of the 10 most-watched shows of Thanksgiving week. For the week that ended Sunday, NBC averaged 14.1-million viewers in prime time, ABC had 13.7-million, CBS had 12.9-million, and Fox had 9.9-million. Among the smaller networks, the WB had 4-million viewers, UPN had 3.4 million (2.2, 4), and Pax TV had 1.3 million (0.9, 2). NBC's Nightly News won the evening news ratings race for the week with 11.4-million viewers. ABC's World News Tonight had 10.5-million viewers, and the CBS Evening News had 9.8 million. 1.
