Radio host Mike Calta extends contract with 102.5 The Bone

Tampa Bay talk radio host Mike Calta has signed a multi-year contract extension to continue The Mike Calta Show on WHPT-FM 102.5 The Bone, Cox Media Group announced Tuesday.

The popular show airs weekdays during the 6 to 10 a.m. morning drive slot.

"I'm excited to call both Tampa Bay and CMG my home and my family for the next couple of years and hopefully plenty more beyond that," Calta, 47, said in a written statement. "This is where The Mike Calta Show was born and we are excited to watch it continue to grow!"

Calta has been with The Bone since 2007. In 2014 he rebranded himself and his show and stopped using the on-air name Cowhead. He started in Tampa Bay radio in 1989 at 93.3 WFLZ-FM, then known as the Power Pig.

A spokesperson for Cox Media Group said that the details of its contracts are confidential, and would not say exactly how many years Calta's contract had been extended for.

Calta, along with Cox Radio Inc. and others, is currently a defendant in a $110 million lawsuit filed in 2016 by Terry Bollea, better known as pro wrestler Hulk Hogan. That suit alleges that Calta, via a radio war with rival talker Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, was involved in leaking a sex tape featuring Hogan and Clem's then wife. Calta is also being sued by Clem over the alleged leak of that same tape.
