St. Petersburg man ejected, killed in crash on I-275, troopers say

The crash closed a portion of the right lane during rush hour, but all four lanes of southbound traffic had reopened by Tuesday night.

A 52-year-old St. Petersburg man was killed in a single-vehicle crash just after 4 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 275 near 4th Street North in Pinellas County, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

A news release from the Highway Patrol said the man drove off the road and into the outside shoulder before the van flipped, and the man was ejected from the vehicle. He died from his injuries, troopers said.

It is not known why the man lost control of his van, the agency said.
