Many of us have been told, “that can’t be done” when we’ve had a big idea. Breast Imaging Radiologist Dr. Ryan Polselli has heard the same thing but has chosen to never let it stop him. Thanks to his determination and insistence on finding answers to the problems he encounters, he has been able to bring mammograms to countless more women through his company MammoLink .By sticking to his gut and pushing through all of the naysayers, Dr. Ryan Polselli is revolutionizing how and where women are able to receive mammograms. A process that has traditionally included multiple steps to schedule an exam, wait lists, miscommunication, poor patient care, and having to drive far distances is being simplified by Dr. Polselli and MammoLink . MammoLink has revolutionized patient care through 3D Mobile Mammography so patients can now schedule and receive their yearly mammograms without the hindrances and delays they previously faced. This means more women are receiving mammograms, which leads to earlier cancer diagnoses and better outcomes, ultimately saving lives.Rather than focus on improving the efficacy of mammograms, Dr. Polselli has pinpointed and solved the bigger and more important problem at hand: why aren’t women getting mammograms?“I wanted to link my patients to the best mammography (Mammo) care that they could possibly have,” Dr. Polselli says. “I wanted to provide the link to make this process seamless.”Now he does so through 3D Mobile Mammography which is saving the lives of women by bringing advanced 3D Mammography Technology for the early detection of breast cancer. Positivity is Key to Success It can be hard to disregard those who tell you that you will fail, but Dr. Polselli insists that it’s essential: “Ignore everyone that has an opinion about your life… People project a lot and what they think and what they tell you has more to do with what they feel inside.”Not only must you move past the negativity, but you must work to create positivity around everything that you do.“I am always trying to find the good in every situation I encounter,” Dr. Polselli says. “Whether that be encouraging a patient, congratulating a technologist or just trying to boost someone’s self-esteem, I am always looking at every circumstance as a ‘glass half full’ scenario. Positive interactions make for a better team and showing support creates an enthusiastic company. I always take advantage of an opportunity to spread positivity.”Dr. Polselli believes it is his relentless positivity that sets him apart from other entrepreneurs. Next? Stay Flexible. Once you’ve honed in on the problem, found a solution, and determined how to best execute your solution, recognize that circumstances will change at a moment’s notice and you must be able to adapt. Flexibility and the ability to improvise will determine your level of success.“Situations change every day, month, or year and you have to be effective in every situation to be successful,” Dr. Polselli points out. “This is at multiple levels. You have to be able to improvise financially, flexible with how to organize your time and your schedule. A flexible approach is needed to have effective communication on various levels with all different types of people. You have to be ready to put on a different hat at any given second. I could be discussing a diagnosis of cancer with a patient who is in tears and the next minute on a phone call with a CEO negotiating a contract. If you are rigid you will never get ahead quickly enough to be in the position to make effective changes.” Only Do What You Are Passionate About Dr. Polselli is now a skilled radiologist with years of experience, but he never expected to pursue a career in Breast Imaging. He was surprised to fall in love with the subspecialty during a rotation in his second year of residency, largely due to the direct patient interaction. He deviated from his intended course and went on to complete a one-year fellowship in breast imaging as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University Hospital and the Avon Breast Foundation of Grady Memorial Hospital. After beginning his early clinical career as the Director of Breast Imaging at Memorial Health University Community Hospital in Georgia, Dr. Polselli started his own company to address patient needs that were not being met. His company originally focused on medical devices that reduce medical errors and improve breast cancer screenings and diagnostic experiences. In 2015, the company started the subdivision MammoLink ®, which improves upon the inconvenient breast cancer screening process we’ve all become accustomed to. By following his passions, Dr. Polselli has been able to revolutionize his industry and improve patient care - two legacies he’s happy to leave.By his own definition, the essence of MammoLink can be boiled down to this: “Good business is often bad medicine. However, good medicine is always good business.”Thanks to his determination, positivity, flexibility, and pursuit of his passions, Dr. Ryan Polselli is practicing both good medicine and good business - a winning combination for women everywhere. starts here.
